Patrick Watson

Patrick Watson
Patrick Watson and his band play lush, playful and often cinematic pop music that is best experienced live. The Canadian musician/composer is a classically trained indie-pop artist often likened to Jeff Buckley, Andrew Bird, Rufus Wainwright and Nick Drake because of his lilting vocals and expansive compositional style. He has composed extensively for film and television, including 15 film scores, and is the recipient of Canada’s elite Polaris Prize. Watson’s live performances are heralded for their spontaneity, backed by musicians who are in lock-step with his conception of orchestral indie-pop. A recent review from NPR stated, “The Montreal singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and prolific film-score composer puts every tiny sound in its right place, but his perfectionism is deployed for the sake of grace that feels almost otherworldly...a singer-songwriter whose brain seems to overflow with wise and exacting ways to reflect on the way hearts work.”
