Death of A King: A Live Theatrical Experience with Tavis Smiley & Marcus Roberts

Death of A King: A Live Theatrical Experience with Tavis Smiley & Marcus Roberts
Television host and author Tavis Smiley presents a live multi-media stage presentation of his bestseller, “Death of A King: The Real Story of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Final Year,” commemorating the 50th anniversary of the death of the renowned civil rights leader. With Smiley as narrator and a live original score performed by SMF Associate Artistic Director Marcus Roberts, this joyful tribute tells the little-known story of King’s final year. Against all odds and with his popularity in deep decline, King had to summon the courage, conviction, commitment and character to bring a message of peace, equality and justice to a bitterly divided
nation. Utilizing visual imagery and live music with eloquent prose, this production declares the impact that one man’s integrity and strong faith in humanity can have on the American people, and people across the globe. Smiley is currently host of his own late night television show on PBS as well as “The Tavis Smiley Show” on NPR.
