Cinderella, A Shadow Ballet

Musical artist White Widow narrates and orchestrates us through the classic fairy tale film Cinderella (Aschenputtel, 1922) by animation pioneer Lotte Reiniger. Delving into psychological struggles, White Widow uses shadow, light, and sound to represent Cinderella's psyche. As Cinderella confronts her repressed self to find her inner light, the film transforms Reiniger's original silhouettes into a modern and mysterious shadow ballet.



Cooped
Cooped is a short comedy about the madness of confinement. A sofa-bound dog shut in a stuffy house gets his first look out the window, discovering that a vast, amazing world waits outside. Growing increasingly crazed, the dog scrambles to overcome a somnambulant owner, rude household objects, a ridiculously sturdy door, and his own lack of thumbs in his attempts to escape. Efforts spiral into failure before a resolution occurs that baffles both dog and owner.



Guida
Guida, a sweet lady who has been working as an archivist at a Courthouse for 30 years, has her routine changed when she sees a newspaper ad for nude models needed for a life drawing classes in a cultural center of the city. Through the main character's creative sensibility, the short film offers a reflection about the artistic inspiration recovery process, art as a transformation agent and the concept of beauty.



The Mechanical Waltz
On this dark and rainy morning, the puppet people trudge off to work. From day to day the routine never changes, their gazes never meet. Are they aware that their every movement, is being fully controlled and meticulously observed? It is time for change, but just a spark and their eyes will unclose...



The Orchestra
Imagine a world where a band of tiny musicians follow you and play a soundtrack for your life, communicating your emotions, fears and hopes. In this world lives elderly Vernon, a lonely man whose crippling shyness causes his orchestral musicians to perform terribly out of tune.
When Vernon and his little band fall for their new next door neighbor and her classical ensemble, they find themselves presented with perhaps their last chance at happiness. A chance to strike a chord and play in harmony.
But first they must confront their stage fright.



Sumer
For unknown reasons, the Earth’s ionosphere has weakened dramatically during the course of the last century. All animal and plant species perished decades ago. All that remains is one small group of humans who attempt to resist the hostility and hardness of the external environment from SUMER, the last hive city in the world. A young boy, Hermes, lives alone close to the wall that delimits the city, an area that is highly guarded by the SSW (SUMER Security Watchers). Hermes suddenly sees something that looks a lot like a blue feather floating in the air…
