Vivaldi Overture to “L’Olimpiade” RV 725
Telemann Concerto in A minor for Violin and Strings
Vivaldi Concerto in A minor for two Violins and Strings RV 523
Durante Concerto a Quattro No. 1 in F minor
Bach Concerto for Violin and Strings in A minor, BWV 1041
The second of two programs during the North American debut of “L’arte del mondo” takes place in the wonderful acoustic of the Telfair Academy Rotunda, where the German chamber music orchestra will again perform with SMF Associate Artistic Director Daniel Hope. If you’ve never heard a world-class chamber orchestra, you will find yourself falling head over heels in love with this music. The concert kicks off with Vivaldi’s colorful and episodic L’Olimpiade overture and also showcases his incredible double concerto in A-minor, where violinists Daniel Hope and Andrea Keller bring this exciting repertory new life and energy. Under the direction of Concertmaster Werner Ehrhardt, the group also performs the extraordinary F-minor concerto by Durante (pupil of Scarlatti) and concludes with Bach’s masterful A-minor violin concerto in what is sure to be an elegant and riveting event.
