In their U.S. premiere, the esteemed chamber music orchestra “L’arte del mondo” performs the first of three programs with SMF Associate Artistic DirectorDaniel Hope. Founded by conductor/violinist WernerEhrhardt in 2004, the German ensemble performs early, baroque and classical period repertoire on period instruments, in addition to select works played on modern instruments. L’arte del mondo has performed in major festivals and concert series across Europe, including Bonn’s Beethoven festival, the Konzerthaus in Berlin and the Cité de la Musique in Paris. The orchestra will perform in the intimate confines of the Telfair Rotunda in a program featuring the “Bach Double,” perhaps one of the most famous works by J. S. Bach and considered among the best examples of the work of the late Baroque period. Additionally, the renowned Telemann Concerto for two violas, two outstanding Mozart Divertimentos, and two of the four movements of Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons,” his best known work, will be performed.
