Daniel Hope & Friends: French Soirée

Ravel Sonata No. 1 in A minor for Violin and Piano
Faure Piano Quartet in C minor, Op.15
Faure Elegie for Cello and Piano
Franck Piano Quintet in F minor
The chamber music literature of the French Romantic era is exceedingly vivid and rewarding, based on a strong, interconnected history among French composers devoted to restoring prominence in French instrumental music, which had been greatly overshadowed by the fashionable Parisian operas. Faure, Franck & Ravel all wrote sensuous, chromatically rich and wellconceived music that was uniquely expressive and innovative, and this concert features four of the most representative works of the genre.
Simon Crawford-Phillips, piano
