Our season begins with a collection of orchestral classics, both old and new. The evening opens with Rossini, one of the most celebrated opera composer of all time, and closes with Beethoven’s joyous and exciting Symphony No. 3, “Eroica”. Violinist Elmar Oliveira, the first and only American to win the Gold Medal at Moscow's prestigious Tchaikovsky International Competition, joins us in what is sure to become another staple of orchestral repertoire – the world premiere of a new Violin Concerto by coveted composer Richard Sortomme.
