Stile Antico

Stile Antico
Working without a conductor, the 12 members of Stile Antico have thrilled audiences throughout Europe and North America with their fresh, vibrant and moving performances of Renaissance polyphony. The ensemble’s bestselling recordings have earned accolades including the Gramophone Award for Early Music, Diapason d’or de l’année, Edison Klassiek Award and Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik, and two Grammy nominations. Stile Antico’s SMF debut in 2011 was reviewed by NPR Music, who commented: “Despite the rich details, this Stile Antico concert is one of those performances in which you can leave the scholarship aside and just float in an ocean of unearthly sound.” In this SMF appearance, the ensemble presents Tenebrae Responsories, a set of 18 motets for a cappella voice written by late Renaissance Spanish composer Tomás Luis de Victoria.
