Daniel Hope’s Air: A Baroque Journey

Daniel Hope’s Air: A Baroque Journey
From its creation in the mid-16th century, the modern violin has had an extraordinary and tempestuous history. Arguably its greatest development came during the Baroque era, which this concert will trace through the works of the period’s most unique composers and virtuoso violinists, while illuminating the diversity of the era’s repertoire and the cultural exchanges that took place. This program blends the simplest and at times most primitive forms of dance music with the most sophisticated and revolutionary compositions of the day, culminating in a work by Bach, “whose music remains more modern today than that of anyone else,” according to Hope.
