SCAD Alumni Panel

Join esteemed alumni from SCAD as they discuss their foray into the film and entertainment industry.

Derek Carter is a graduate of SCAD (Film/TV, ’09), who relocated to New York City to work in international film distribution at Focus Features, then in film exhibition managing Chelsea Cinemas. Currently, he is the General Manager of one of the nation’s most prominent art-house movie theaters: the Angelika Film Center, specializing in independent and foreign cinema.

Alex Hammer is a director whose work includes NAKED AS WE CAME, ALTERED STATES OF PLAINE, GOING DOWN IN LA-LA LAND, and LIFE IS BUT A DREAM. In the music world, he is best known for his collaboration with Beyonce, conspiring and editing her music videos and creating interactive media for live performances. His work has been nominated for multiple MTV VMAs.

Jett Steiger is an award winning producer and Sundance Creative Producing Fellow. He has produced short films: THE EXECUTION OF SOLOMON HARRIS (dir. Ed Yonaitis and Wyatt Garfield), THE NATURE BETWEEN US (dir. William Campbell), WORST ENEMY (dir. Lake Bell) and SOMEBODY (dir. Miranda July) as well as feature films: THE WOODS (dir. Matthew Lessner), GOATS (dir. Chris Neil) and IN A WORLD... (dir. Lake Bell) All of which screened at film festivals internationally including Sundance, Cannes and SXSW. In 2013, IN A WORLD... won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at Sundance and was acquired by Roadside Attractions and Sony Worldwide. In addition to his film work, Steiger has produced commercials for global brands like Visa, Chevy, Land Rover, Beats by Dre, Levi’s and Sony. He has produced videos for musicians like Pharrell Williams, 30 Seconds To Mars, Liars, Yeasayer, Noah & The Whale and Cults.

Brent Kiser is a Kentucky native, a Savannah College of Art and Design graduate, owner of Unbridled Sound in Los Angeles and Emmy Award winning Sound Designer. In 2012, Brent was fortunate enough to work in collaboration with Snap Sound and Charles Mayne on the History Channel’s 'Gettysburg.' The Ridley and Tony Scott produced project garnered him an an Emmy, as well as an MPSE Golden Reel for his sound design on the graphic maps. 2014 has been particularly busy with Unbridled Sound heavily involved in the NFL Network re-brand by Oishii Creative. The project has included providing a Sonic Mnemonic, a full in-house sound library, and the NFL Network’s Anthem song.
