Lawrence of ArabiaThis sweeping epic film directed by David Lean follows the adventures of British officer T.E. Lawrence in the Middle East. It is based on true events from his memoir the Seven Pillars of Wisdom, Lawrence struggles along side the desert peoples as they fight for freedom and independence.
The film was meticulously (and expensively) shot in 70mm for months in the Jordanian desert, as well as in Morocco and Spain. Lean was notorious for halting filming for days while he waited for just the right angle of light. The result is a stunning and expansive film which garnered 10 Academy Award nominations, winning 7, not to mention numerous other accolades. Now is your chance to see it, 50 years later, the way it was meant to be seen. Starring Peter O'Toole, Omar Sharif, Alec Guinness, Anthony Quinn, Jack Hawkins, Jose Ferrer and Claude Rains.
The film is 227 minutes long and there will be a 15-minute intermission. It is rated PG, however, there are some scenes of violence and distress.
Tickets are $8 general admission, $5 with student ID or for ages 55+. This film is eligible for use with the Lucas Theatre Movie Pass.
