Notorious (1946)
Ne’er-do-well free-spirit Alicia Huberman (Ingrid Bergman) is recruited by the American CIA to marry, and then spy on, Alexander Sebastian (Claude Rains), a former Nazi agent now living in Brazil. Agent Devlin (Cary Grant), her handler, visits the mansion in order to help complete the mission.
One of Hitchcock’s most suspenseful nail-bitters, it was nominated for two Academy Awards and is on numerous “top films” lists as well as being inducted into the Library of Congress’s National Film Registry.
