Bounce: How the Ball Taught the World to Play

Bounce: How the Ball Taught the World to Play
Bounce: How the Ball Taught the World to Play is a feature documentary that takes us to the far reaches of the globe and the deep recesses of our ancient past to answer the question: Why do we play ball? Based on the book by anthropologist John Fox, 'The Ball: Discovering the Object of the Game,' (Harper Perennial, 2012), the film explores the biological and cultural influences that drive the evolution of our ball games. Equal parts science, history, and visual essay, the documentary follows the ball from animal play through professional sports to video games, exploring why we play ball, and how we play says who we are, where we've come from, and where we are going as a civilization.

Play Date

Preceded the narrative short “Play Date.”
When a little girl discovers a homeless woman in her backyard she invites her inside for a play date, which goes unnoticed by her distracted parents. 'Play Date' takes a light-hearted approach to the issue of homelessness, an invisible part of our daily lives that's happening right in our own backyards. The film challenges our preconceptions about affluence and explores the overwhelming distraction we face in our technology-burdened families. 'Play Date' forces us take a deeper look at ourselves and ask the question: What does being 'homeless' really mean?
